Is Teeth Whitening Safe? It may seem like a simple question, but the answer can go both ways.

Is teeth whitening safe
Yes and No.

Making our teeth whiter can go as expected or not.

Nowadays, almost everything can be cured or if not, it can at least be treated. This doesn’t exclude the process of making our teeth whiter.

But people would prefer to use at home teeth whitening remedies and products that can be bought over the counter rather than the teeth whitening treatments that can be availed at the dentist – like laser teeth whitening for example which is very expensive.

So, back to the question. Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

Again, yes and no.

Yes because most of the teeth whitening products that are widely used today are no longer concentrated or doesn’t have a high percentage of active oxidizing agents like carbamide, for example, which twenty years ago was kind of high in most teeth whitening products.

Yes, there may be some teeth whitening side effects that can be noticed or be alarming for consumers but it doesn’t mean it can’t be corrected or even prevented.

Though the usual side effects are the ones like: sensitive teeth, as well as irritated gum; though these side effects are just temporary and not to mention short-lived.

Usually, some sensitivity is felt in areas of the teeth when cheap teeth whitening products are used. Because it wears down the enamel of the teeth.

Consumers therefore are advised to always purchase those teeth whitening products which are recommended strongly by dentists.

Then again, in most cases, this at home teeth whitening kits can be harmful as well. As should be, companies always tell their consumers to follow the directions and/or carefully use their products as directed.

But since others use the products excessively, this would lead to some drastic side effects which includes – teeth irritation and some gum problems.

Also, what’s risky about these products today, especially if they contain a high dosage of hydrogen peroxide – this might cause some side effects like nausea, vomiting and stomach pain when ingested.

And what’s more, over-teeth bleaching can lead to slightly translucent gray discoloration in the corner of the mouth or the teeth.

This is why consumers are also advised not to purchase those harsh teeth whitening products that may cause damage beyond repair.

Now of course, you want white teeth like the next person – but then again, there are risks and to answer the question it is both safe and also unsafe.

What one should do is to always consult the dentist first before doing anything else – especially if one has teeth problems like sensitivity of the gums or other teeth-related problems.

Yes, there are a lot of teeth whitening products nowadays – and to top it all off there are also a lot of procedures that come along with it just for our teeth to become whiter.

But then again, one must know good and not-so-very-good side of making our teeth whiter.
